New Cartoon Row in the Making? Is Dutch Gregorius Nekschot next? (Law & Justice)

During the Danish cartoon row the question was raised who would be next. Could it be the Dutch cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot? Gregorius Nekschot stays anonymous and uses a pseudonym. Long before the Danish cartoon case even existed, he made a lot of cartoons related to politics and religion, not only about Islam.

According to a message posted by the Dutch cartoonist in a newsgroup related to Dutch politics and the website 'Het Vrije Volk' ('The Free People'), the Dutch imam Abdul Jabbar van de Ven, a Dutch convert as his names indicates, now started a campaign against Nekschot.

Via a forum called marokko.nl Abdul Jabbar van de Ven asked other users of the forum (here, click on "eerste blad") to file a complaint against Nekschot at the Dutch Complaints Bureau for Discrimination on the Internet because he is inciting hatred against Muslims or insults Muslims.

According to its website "the Complaints Bureau for Discrimination on the Internet operates completely independently and is not linked to any political party or interest group. The board of the Foundation, management and staff consist of people who represent a mirror-image of Dutch society as to their descent, religious beliefs, gender or sexual preference."

The Bureau is subsidized by the Dutch Government (Ministry of Justice).

As a consequence of the campaign against Nekschot, the Complaints Bureau for Discrimination on the Internet was apparently flooded with complaints and urged the Public Prosecutor to start a case against Nekschot based on criminal law.

Is another manipulated cartoon row in the making?
